Jake is now living pain free, but his journey to get here was effected by C19. Jake was 24 when he contacted me and had been suffering with pelvic pain for 15 months. He was a fit and healthy young man with no other health conditions or complaints. His pelvic pain came on with a massive flare up of urinary symptoms and pain levels up to 7/18 out of 10. It then subsided to a constant burning sensation at the tip of his penis and urethra, particular when urinating and during any sexual activity.

Jake’s pelvic pain journey

Jake had multiple GP, Urology and GUM clinic appointments and had a battery of assessments including bloods, cystoscopy, STI/STD tests all of which always cam back clear! He was finally diagnosed with “prostatitis” and was told there wasn’t much that could be done. He was simply told to avoid stress! I started seeing Jake at the end of 2019. We had 3 face to face appointments before C19 struck.. We then had one further session via Zoom

I provided Jake with a comprehensive and entirely bespoke recovery plan including – pain education (what it is, what causes it and what it is not), lifestyle management including a daily schedule of self care activity, a bespoke and progressive movement plan, stress management techniques to help reduce and manage flare ups, self massage techniques specific to his symptoms and full support, guidance and mentoring during the process

At the end of 2020 Jakes pelvic pain had much reduced and he was able to engage with many of his meaningful activities including sports, dating and music once more. By March he was seeing very consistent patterns of no pelvic pain symptoms and by May of 2021 he was completely symptom free!

Jake is now living pain free and is fully recovered

Here is Jake’s story in his own words

“I found Karl I was in emotional and physical pain everyday. The typical health services told me to ‘avoid stress’, ‘I should just live with it’ and ‘there isn’t much that can be done’. I had intuitions that it would be a holistic unconventional approach that is needed but until Karl helped me verbalise and realise the intuitions I stayed spinning my wheels. He gave me an outlet to voice any concerns, cynicism or unaddressed emotions, he was there as a living proof that this can be understood and overcome, Karl was instrumental in helping me apply the right approaches while being kind to myself which allowed me to finally heal and move past the pain.

During this process I learned that some pains require a lifestyle change rather than running to the doctors and often we talked through how some pain is emotionally connected. First Karl still emphasises exploring the Western Medicine angle so that you rule out the possibilities of something serious, then you apply the holistic healing methods which are easy to overlook in our fast paced western lives. I found that there was equal merit to Traditional Chinese, Indian or Eastern Medicine where Western Medicine fails, as they tend to apply the emotional and mental health to the physical. With the persistent pain I worked with Karl through different methods to allow my mind to simply step past it. Though this can sound ‘woo woo’ or spiritual it really isn’t, the benefits of simply letting go of emotional strain or stress can have profoundly positive effects on the physical through the interlacing web of nerves our bodies have connecting to the brain and gut.

By applying mental and emotional health improvements as well as the physical through relaxing stretches, diet changes and lifestyle changes I am now pain free and I hope that you will reach this place too.”

Thank you so very much for your openness and honesty Jake. It has been a pleasure working with you. I am always here should you need any further guidance or support
